CAREFIRST CAROLINA FOUNDATION
A 501(c)(3) non profit type 1 supporting foundation dedicated to increasing access to care and the overall wellbeing of the communities served. We serve the counties of Darlington, Dillon, Chesterfield, Lee and Marlboro. As a supporting foundation dedicated to the patients of CareSouth Carolina (a community health center open to everyone) we strive to find ways to assist in the early detection and treatment of disease. Patients identified as both financially in need and medically/clinically in distress are referred to our program and a 4-step verification process is implemented. The funds we supply through our "Friends and Neighbors" patient assistance program go directly to help individuals in our communities that may be uninsured or under-insured, and are made possible by local donations. The United Way of Hartsville has invested in the better health of the community here in Hartsville by supporting this program. |

Serves 45 meals five days a week, or 12,750 a year, to the elderly of Hartsville, and provides transportation

DARLINGTON COUNTY DISABILITIES & SPECIAL NEEDS BOARD (SCOTT CENTER)
This non-profit educational institution for exceptional learners provides a developmentally sequenced program
for pre-school children (birth-4 years) and vocationally oriented training for adults (21 years and older).
It also provides case management, residential, respite, supported employment and early intervention

DARLINGTON COUNTY FIRST STEPS
Darlington County First Steps to School Readiness exists to help children birth through 5 years old prepare for school. Our school readiness strategies include: family strengthening through our Parents as Teachers program and our Motheread/Fatheread family literacy program; early education by expanding opportunities for 4-year-old kindergarten in public and private settings; and school transition by providing a summertime readiness program, Countdown to Kindergarten. |
FREE MEDICAL CLINIC OF DARLINGTON COUNTY
The Free Medical Clinic of Darlington County is an interdenominational Christian ministry which provides free medical care, medications, and pastoral support to Darlington County residents who are ineligible for Medicaid, who are without the financial resources to afford such care, and/or who have no medical insurance. 332-0422 |
GIRL SCOUT COUNCIL OF THE PEE DEE
This program is open to all girls, ages 5 to 17, who accept the girl scout promise and laws. The teachings of home, church and school are reinforced by this versatile program inspiring girls to be resourceful citizens of the community. 669-5174 |
HARTSVILLE RESCUE SQUAD
This is an organization of local volunteers trained and equipped to assist in a variety of emergency situations. The group also promotes safety. United Way support is used for special gear, operating supplies, maintenance and repairs. 332-7939 |
HARTSVILLE YMCA AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

LAKE ROBINSON RESCUE SQUAD
The members volunteer their time and services and are expertly trained for all types of emergencies. Funds are used to purchase and maintain special equipment necessary for effective emergency service and programs for advanced paramedic life support. 332-2400 |
MENTAL HEALTH OF AMERICA IN DARLINGTON COUNTY
Dedicated to the welfare of mentally ill persons, their families and the communities in which they live, the
association promotes good mental health and works to prevent mental illness by teaching and disseminating

Boys are provided leadership in an educational and recreational program that develops character,

PEE DEE COALITION AGAINST DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL ASSAULT-HARTSVILLE
Dedicated to the reduction of rape, domestic violence and child abuse and to the needs of its victims. Provides direct, indirect and advocacy services for victims and their families. UNITED WAY OF SOUTH CAROLINA
Responds to everyday needs of local United Ways in South Carolina, providing training and technical assistance in addressing community problem solving. Provides more than $25,000 in special grants to local United Ways to address community projects. United Way of South Carolina is the administrative agent for the local United Ways in programs such as South Carolina Housing Partnership and South Carolina Healthy Start Project. |
